A Story in LEGO Bricks Book Design, Printed Matter

A half-letter booklet project, printed on a perfect Lego mini-figure yellow paper, completed during a delightful week at Typography Summer School in August 2026, where we were tasked with creating work inspired by a list of some kind.

I thought there might be some juicy opportunity in the list of every Lego piece that has ever existed throughout all of time and yes that’s a lot of Lego and it stressed me out.

I applied the logic of the most basic brick forms to a rather touching story posted on Reddit page r/lego by user PlasticEnthusiast in 2022 about a fond Lego experience. Each text box, grounded on the page, assumes the dimension of a Lego brick with its size indicated by a corresponding footnote at the top of the page (headnote maybe…?). A very fun, somewhat improvisational process to turn the story into a sort of dramatic prose poem.
